Falls Creek Alpine Resort is an alpine ski resort in northeastern Victoria, Australia.  It is Victoria's largest alpine resort and the spiritual home of cross country skiing. Located in the Alpine National Park in the Victorian Alps, approximately 350 kilometres by road from Melbourne, with the nearest town Mount Beauty, approximately 30 km away. The resort lies between an elevation of 1,210 and 1,830 m above sea level, with the highest lifted point at 1,780 m.

Falls Creek is beginner/intermediate friendly, with almost 80% of the resort dedicated to these types of skiers/snowboarders. Falls Creek is also the official training base for the Australian national cross-country team and hosts the annual Kangaroo Hoppet, the largest snow sport event in the southern hemisphere.  

Falls Creek boasts 65 kilometres of free cross-country trails, downhill skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, and terrain parks with some of the best rails and jumps around.

Falls Creek, 29 km south of Mt Beauty via a narrow and winding but scenic road, has a reputation as the state's most exclusive (and expensive) ski resort. It is certainly one of the most popular. It is located 363 km north-east of Melbourne via the Hume Freeway, Wangaratta and the Great Alpine Rd.

Those who prefer to avoid the hassle of driving on the narrow approach road in icy winter conditions may wish to leave their car at Mt Beauty and take one of the daily coaches (there are also daily coach services from Albury and Melbourne in the ski season).
